Newsletter for August

Hello Everyone,

We had a very successful meeting on July 24th. The meeting was once again held at Peking Duck in Closter, NJ.

We were honored to have Carolyn Fish and Lynn Shenken from the Rockland Family Shelter.

Their talks were very informative and the interested audience asked several questions.

We were also honored by the presence of Sandhya Rawal, our teen representative.

Gita Sivakumar graciously accepted the chair for the Rockland section of the Membership Committee headed by Madhu Ahluwalia. Kala Dwarkanath agreed to be the liason for press relations.

Several old members of AWAKE were seen at this meeting. Their return is welcome and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful alliance.

Jaslin and Raman met with Ajay Vir, the President of ICSR.

Ajay has asked us to participate in various activities of ICSR. Sandhya is busy writing an article for the teen section of the ICSR newsletter.

We discussed the need to work on the journal for the upcoming fundraiser on the 16th of October.

Ruky Decolyse, chair of the Cultural Committee, is in charge of the journal.
